Net-gen gaming is really doing great right now but what is a real next-gen system. When you think about it the future for people is we want a system that can have all of you multimedia,news, and watch television but no system is truly there yet. But the ps3 does come farely close. The ps3 has gaming,movies and videos,music,pictures,internet,and weather (in select locations but you can go online). The 360 is much farther but moved much closer too with the release of the xbox Experience. With the addition of Netflix 360 now has videos/movies,games,music. But no internet broswer and no pictures(or not a lot of formats supported). So next-gen is not quite there yet but PS3 is closer than we've ever gotten to the future.
